Kemper submits year-end financials

LONG GROVE, ILL. –
February 28, 2005 – Kemper filed its 2004 year-end financial
statements (LMC
financial statement - AMM
financial statement) on Monday, February 28. The company posted
a combined statutory surplus of $181.8 million. Of this amount, $171.4
million represents Lumbermens Mutual Casualty Company’s (LMC)
surplus, with the $10.4 million balance posted by American Manufacturers
Mutual Insurance Company (AMM). The combined year-end surplus is a
decline of approximately $30.6 million from year-end 2003 surplus
of $212.4 million.
Total assets for the organization stood at $3.8 billion, compared
to $5.3 billion at the end of 2003. Gross liabilities dropped from
$9.2 billion at December 31, 2003 to $6.8 billion at the end of
2004.
